Dog + Service Dog Training = Independence

Faithfully K9 Service Dog And Dog Training transforms the life of an individual with a disability while enhancing a dog’s life.  Although there are many organizations that train and provide service dogs, most of them supply the dog.  There is a definite void in providing training for dogs that already live with a person needing a service dog.   Faithfully K9 Service Dog and Dog Training is a mobile training business that meets at a disabled individuals home and creates a plan to work with their personal dog in the hopes to make that dog their service dog.  Not every dog can become a service dog, of course.  There is an extensive evaluation that takes place to make sure that the individual and dog are up for the task.

We are in the process of filing for non-profit 501(c-3) status to be able to help more people with disabilities.  Watching a service dog make it possible for a disabled individual to have increased independence or a veteran isolated for years be able to go out to dinner or a movie is our inspiration.  Combining over 17 year’s experience in working through a different organization with persons with mobility limitations, children with autism and veterans with PTSD has given us the skills needed to be successful in this new endeavor.

PTSD is chaotic, causing over stimulation and hyper-vigilance.  With 22 veterans committing suicide every day, it is imperative to bring options that have a life-saving affect.

Not only does a service dog enable a person to be able to have a more independent life but also enhances their mental and emotional well-being while enriching their life and building confidence.

Taking clothes out of a dryer, dropping them in a basket and tugging the basket to another room can make a big difference to someone who otherwise has to ask for or wait for help.  Dogs help people walk, keep their balance, pick up dropped items and turn on the lights making a brighter future for those in need.

The costs for an owner trained service dog through our organization are approximately $5,000.  We require 100 hours of training including time with a trainer, training at home and 30 hours of outings with a trainer before a team could take the public access test.  We are trying to raise startup money to pay for non-profit status, acquiring vests with patches stating the dog is a service dog (upon graduation), attorney’s fees, liability insurance and fund the first 5 clients as we establish the fundraising side of the business.

Thank you for being an instrument to bring joy and change to lives of those with disabilities.
