<div>For the past 20 years my wife and I have been caring for stray dogs in a small town on the West coast of the Yucatán peninsula. We've been largely self-funded, but with food and veterinary costs climbing and remote employment disappearing, we're unable to make ends meet. We need to raise at least $6500 US (120,000 pesos) to fund a few months of food and medicine.

<div>Currently we care for more than 40 dogs and 2 cats in-house (all sterilized and vaccinated), as well as feed numerous strays. They eat 150-200 kilos of dry food per week, at a cost of around 20,000 pesos per month. A few require daily medication, and they all need routine parasite preventatives.

<div>We made the difficult decision to stop accepting new dogs ...until the eve of tropical storm Beryl, when Nell had a litter on our doorstep. Four of the 8 puppies have been adopted, and we've managed to get the mother and four remaining pups spayed.
