Dog Loses Life Saving His Owner

A long-time foster for Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue (RMCR) was in a serious car accident on slick roads, Monday, Oct 9 in Divide, CO. Our dedicated senior volunteer was immediately placed in ICU with both neck and pelvic fractures and a crushed elbow. Her dog, Patches, was riding shotgun while her other dog, Rondo, and an RMCR foster dog, Harley, were in the back seat. Patches entire body was thrusted into the windshield and landed in Carol's lap, where those on the scene said he certainly saved her from more extensive injuries. Patches was bleeding from above his left eye and a Good Samaritan took all 3 dogs to the vet while "Carol" was rushed to the hospital. Patches was being treated and observed for severe head trauma however, he lost his life approx 30 hours later due to bleeding on the brain and multiple internal injuries.  After the other two dogs are cleared to leave the vet ER, Rondo, a senior black cocker, will be staying with a friend and Harley will be moved to his new foster home.
Carol had surgery Oct 11 and will be in the hospital for many days/weeks and will need physical therapy. We are asking for your help so RMCR can "give the same love and care" she has given so many by providing the vet care and medications Rondo needs along with returning Patches to his home (urn). RMCR's Board of Directors will ensure all monies collected here are used towards helping "Carol" with transportation to/from medical appts. When she is medically cleared to drive, RMCR will use the remaining money from this fund to assist in getting her a replacment vehicle.
