CLOSED-Disabled Sr Needs Home Wheelchair Access

Please Help Give David Wheelchair Accessibility at Home!

I am trying to raise money to create a wheelchair accessible backyard for my Beloved Brother David. He became quadriplegic just over a year ago (see "How it Happened" below).

David will be returning home in a couple of months, after more than 6 months of working very hard to gain as much movement as possible. He lives alone and is unable to go outside unless someone is there to assist him. He described his experience as "feeling like a prisoner in my own home." As a result, he was severely depressed.

I have been working with a talented landscaper, Gamis Gonzalez, who created the above design. This will allow David to get sunshine, fresh air, pick some peaches from his trees this summer, and demonstrate his green thumb by gardening in the waist high planters.

My goal is to raise the funds by April so that his backyard can be in place for his return home.
<Update April 15, 2020 - with the unusual world situation, our target date needs to be more fluid. Gamis, our landscaper, said that he will do the work once we raise $3,500. He will wait for the remainder to allow us time to raise it. - Thank you Gamis!>

PLEASE SHARE THIS WEBPAGE By Posting on Social Media and/or Sending to Your Friends and Relatives! Every single dollar counts, so the more this is circulated, the quicker we can allow David the freedom to enjoy nature again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

HOW IT HAPPENED

David has spinal stenosis. This is when the space in your spine becomes so narrow it squeezes the spinal cord. His most recent surgery actually found a tear in his spinal cord! Spinal stenosis can range from no symptoms to complete paralysis. David has a severe case. There are a variety of causes, most of which are out of your control.

This is a picture taken a few months before he lost his mobility.
