Dodd Family Mission Trip!

Donation protected
We are excited to share with you that our family has the opportunity to go on a mission trip to the City Heights community in San Diego June 16th-24th.

City Heights is the most densely populated and diverse community in San Diego with over 100,000 people living in just five square miles. There are over 60 languages and 80 dialects spoken in the community and over 40% are foreign-born residents. This unique community has become a hub for resettling refugees.

We will be serving with Kaleo Missions and Legacy City Heights, two ministries which Andrea’s brother and sister-in-law lead in San Diego. Kaleo Missions is a short-term missions organization that brings a long-term impact to their partners; local organizations, churches, schools and businesses. Legacy City Heights is a community youth development organization that desires to see a lasting legacy of unity, dignity and empowerment in the youth community through athletics, education and assisting with finding jobs. Through this, these youth and their families will learn the truth of the Gospel and have hope within a broken community.

We will have the special privilege to help with an after school kids club for refugees, that focuses on teaching the Bible through art, literacy and games.  Additionally, we will be helping families in transition, do some remodeling work (because we just can’t get away from it, ha!) and having meals with local youth and their families. We will also be able to serve lunches to those experiencing homelessness and help Scott (Andrea’s brother) with his youth soccer program and serve the community on World Refugee Day. Ultimately, we are open and willing to serve and love this community in whatever ways we can!

As most of you know we homeschool and we are just about done with our “school year” but plan to start studying and learning about refugees and the culture of the people we will be loving on until we leave in June. That includes mission trip training with the kids and involving them in the fundraising for our trip as well.

So we ask you to join us in prayer as we prepare our hearts and go serve these precious people and the community with a love that clearly exemplifies the joy of Christ! We also would appreciate prayers for Boltyn (1 ½ years old) who we will be leaving behind with family and friends, we sure are going to miss our sweet boy!

If you made it this far, thanks for enduring! We are grateful beyond words for all the support and prayers!
