Calculators for ACT

My name is Melissa Helberg and I teach physics at Consortium College Preparatory High School in Detroit.  Our school's average ACT score is about a 14, while some schools just north of the city report averages around 29.  Despite what may look like tough odds, my school team and I are dedicated to equipping our scholars with the skills, habits, and mindsets to GRADUATE from college.  A critical component to the college-going process is the ACT test, which ALL of our high schoolers will take in some form in the next couple months.  My 9th graders will take the ACT Explore, a test that helps project actual ACT scores, in an effort to prepare each student to score his or her very best come junior year.  Our goal is for each student to earn AT LEAST a 21 on his or her ACT.

We have big goals for our students, but there is currently an obstacle in our way:  we do not have enough calculators for our next ACT day.  Please help my students at Consortium College Preparatory High School by donating to help us purchase a calculator for each student to use during the ACT.  GO COUGARS!
