A Christmas Miracle

Donation protected
Hello everyone! In the very beginning of January 2017, my dad, Jeff, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer very unexpectedly. He went in for a physical and his doctor randomly decided to test his PSA levels because two days prior he had saw on TV that men have started to get prostate cancer at ages younger than 50 (the age you are supposed to be checked for it). His levels were 700+ which is insane with the norm being a 0-4. My dad was 46 at the time (now 47), and we have no family history, so this was shocking. He was also laid off from his job in late January of 2017 on top of everything. He then had a few surgeries and procedures done at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota the week of March 13-17. He got his prostate gland removed along with around 60 lymph nodes. They also froze a region of his pelvic bone to prevent more spreading. He also receives hormone shots every three months to keep the cancerous cell growth to a minimum. In the end of March of 2017, he had swelling in his left leg and was rushed to the ER in Springfield (our hometown) to find a bunch of blood clots in his pelvic region and one in his left leg. One of the clots made its way up to one of his lungs and he actually had a pulmonary embolism. The doctors did everything they could and stopped it with medicine and a procedure. They later told him if he wasn't such an active man throughout his life he would have died quickly from it. He went back to Mayo Clinic Easter weekend of 2017 for a checkup and then started his radiation this past September. He had radiation everyday for 8 weeks. He just finished!!! Yay! He still continues to take numerous amounts of medication and goes for checkups, scans, and injections often. So, all in all there have been some wonderful little miracles throughout this process. However, this is something he will have to live with and look out for, for the rest of his life. As you might have assumed, medical bills from the surgeries, procedures, hospital visits, medications, scans, injections, etc. have been very high causing some struggle. I wanted to start this page to help them in any way possible. *HOWEVER, THIS IS A COMPLETE SECRET.* It is going to be given to them as a part of their christmas gift from my three siblings and I!!! So, please keep it a secret from my parents!!! Be careful what you share on Facebook!!! Make sure Barbie can’t see anything! You can even block her and readd her later! I blocked her! Don’t mention anything about it to either of them please! That being said, whatever donation you can give, whether it be $5, $10, or just a thought/prayer, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much for all you do for the Sauer family! God bless! #sauerstrong #ibelieveinchristmasmiracles
