Hurricane Harvey has taken its toll on Texas submerging Houston and the surrounding areas in water. Imagine being forced to evacuate your home, leaving all your belongings and mementos knowing that they will not be in tact at the end of this. That level devastation is incomprehensible. Vyndsen, Sunni and the City, Goodie Girl Bags and 10 Blessings Inspiration have joined forces from the DMV (D.C., Maryland and Virgina) to deliver supplies to the victims.
While the flooding and evacuation has been a challenging time, the hardest part is yet to come: the aftermath and rebuilding post Harvey. Instead of hashtags and keeping them in our prayers, we can actually do something to help. We have begun the process of receiving donations in the form of clothes, shoes, diapers, food and toiletries for the victims and will continue to collect for the next two weeks.
In order to ensure the donations are received by those who need it most, we will be driving supplies to Houston and disperse the goods to various shelters in the area. Here is where you come in. If you aren’t able to donate tangible items, you can still do your part by donating financially. The money will be spent on the trucks, gas, lodging and the packing supplies needed to make this a smooth transition.
Any amount you can give will be appreciated and well used. Sending prayers is cherished and valued but it will not keep them warm or fed. These donations will not replace what’s been lost or fix the situation. But it is a step in the right direction. It’s a small beacon of light during a dark in an otherwise devastating time. Your support in this effort will make that light brighter. You have to power to do something. Your donation will assist in delivering solace to the survivors.
