Albanian earthquake victims 2019

What is happening in Albania right now is nothing short of a human tragedy.  Twenty nine earth movements in the space of 24 hours, 16 within 6 hours, the strongest measured as 6.4 magnitude on a Richter scale. One hundred buildings have been destroyed in the city of Durrës and around the region with 26 people reported dead, 650 badly injured and many more being pulled out of the rubble as we speak. It is the strongest earthquake that has hit the country in 40 years, totally devastating a small population of only 2.5 million which has suffered tremendously through totalitarism for more than 50 years and has continued to struggle in the process of building a democratic nation.

The situation is worsening, winter is just ahead of us, and we need help. Your help is needed now. I have set this page up to help the Public Hospital of Durres, the city that has been hit the hardest with varying basic needs for the injured. But help is needed in the capital city as well where people have not been able to get inside their homes for the second day in the row. Your generosity is very much appreciated!
