Dmitry Putilov tragically died from a hit-and-run accident while cycling with his two young sons  Thursday, June 16th, at 14th Street and Jefferson Street. Thankfully, Dmitry’s sons were unscathed and safe.

There were articles about this unfortunate hit and run accident like this CBS article

Dmitry Putilov is a young man of 42 years and has so much to accomplish. He is survived by his mother Yelena, his adult sons Viacheslav and Vladik, his two younger sons Nicolas (8 years old) and Philpp (6 years old), and his immediate family  in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dmitry was born in the Soviet Union. His life in the former Soviet Union was not very easy. He worked hard to survive as a Deaf person and eventually immigrated to Europe. He then moved to the United States for better opportunities. His enigmatic and charming personality won many friends, both Deaf and hearing, in many cities and many countries. His unique construction skills were greatly loved and were in high demand. Dmitry helped many Deaf and hearing friends rebuild or remodel their apartments, houses, and gardens.  He also worked at the local construction company headquartered in SF Bay Area and travelled to different cities and states to assist with remodeling.  Dmitry was also a huge “glue” that held many ex-Soviet Deaf people together in San Francisco Bay Area. Dmitry also has many friends in America, Europe, and formerly Soviet republics. Friends and family describe Dmitry as a fantastic person and an excellent father to his sons. His loss is profound and has touched many people across America.

Dmitry died at the wrong place at the wrong time. He is gone because of a reckless vehicle driver who hit him and took off without showing regards for another human being.  This reckless driver has not been found as of today.

The family performed the cremation services and last-minute memorial service  for Dmitry at the end of June 2022.  GoFundMe costs went toward those two major expenses

- $9,600 for cremation costs/wake service
- $5,000 for cremation storage in SF Bay Area and other expenses
