The MEDLIFE Difference!

Donation protected
Hi all!

I have been blessed with the opportunity to join the MEDLIFE team for their upcoming volunteer trip January 3rd through January 18th 2015 in Lima, Peru. MEDLIFE is an organization built on the principles of improving accessibilility to Medicine, Education, and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere.

The mission of MEDLIFE is to help families achieve greater freedom from the constraints of poverty, empowering them to live healthier lives.

My work will be centered in the shantytown of Pamplona Alta. In this community of over 20,000 residents (and constantly growing), there are no direct sewage or water lines. One of the goals of the UC Berkeley MEDLIFE chapter is to improve this inadequate system with a sustainable Clean Water Initiative.

Along with this Clean Water Initiative, I will be volunteering with local doctors and medical professionals who seek to aid those who have little to no access to proper health care services.

When not working with medical professionals, I will either be spending time working with the youth of the community (teaching healthy habits such as proper toothbrushing or explaining the importance of a healthy and balanced diet) or working with the community development team. As there have been several health and safety concerns related to the steep terrain of Pamplona Alta, we have determined that building a staircase would provide an immeasurable improvement for the community.

The moment I was selected to be part of the MEDLIFE team, I knew that this would be something special. As is the cost of access to a safe home base in Lima, to make this opportunity a reality, I am looking to raise $2000 to pay for my housing and flights to South America. As a college student myself, I understand that there may be financial constrictions, and I completely understand if donating is not possible at this time. I would like to remind you that any size donation or sharing of my story would be greatly appreciated! This is a program that I am truly passionate about, and am thankful for being given to opportunity to join the MEDLIFE team.

Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I would be more than happy to talk with you about the program and why this is so important to me!

Thank you all for taking the time to read this! With your support, we can make a direct impact fighting the communal trials and troubles of poverty and social inequality!
