Port-a-pit Fundraiser

Donation protected

Thank you for visiting our site set up to receive donations and get Nelson Golden Glow Port-a-pit Fundraiser tickets for Saturday March 10, 2012 for Zach\'s Forever Family Fundraiser. We are still accepting donations at this site as we have not yet met our total fundraising goals. We set a goal for our Port-A-Pit Fundraiser that would get Zach\'s adoption needs met. We are much closer now to that Goal.

Six months ago, our lives changed forever. After attending a campout for people with Bladder Exstrophy, a rare birth defect that one of my biological sons has, we were contacted by a friend who assists with finding homes for children with this same condition. She told us of an adorable 6 year old boy from China who was in the USA on a medical visa, because he was found untreated for his BE in his orphanage when he was 5. This meant that his bladder was still outside his body, he had 2 hernias so severe that he could not stand up straight, and he also needed tubes in his ears to restore his hearing. He was brought to the USA by a non profit organization that finds these children who need medical care in orphanages and then brings them over here for treatment. We agreed to host him (a foster family without financial compensation), as we had not yet considered adoption. We quickly fell in love with KeJi (Zach) and began our adoption journey.  A few months into our journey, we found out about China\'s Special Focus Program.  This allows families to adopt 2 unrelated children at the same time, on the same adoption trip.  We would get to use the same dossier we were compiling, and most of the costs would not change.  Our adoption agency had a baby girl, at that time just 10 months old, who had the same birth defect as KeJi and our biological son.  It seemed to be a good fit for our family, so we said yes when asked if we would be intersted in pursuing her adoption as well.  We will call her Molly.  Unfortuanately, the cost of international adoption is quite high, whether for one or two children. Since we had not planned to do this, we had not saved money ahead of time. We have made a leap of faith that since God placed Zach and Molly in our lives, we need to provide a permanent, loving home where their special needs are understood and addressed. Our biological son with BE can\'t wait to be a mentor, helping them understand some of the challenges that come with this condition. Although we didn\'t plan for Zach to come into our lives, we love him, and can\'t imagine a life without him. In order for Zach to stay in the USA, and not be sent back to his orphanage when his medical visa expires this summer, we must raise this money.  And the only way we can bring home Molly is to raise the additional $5,000 her adoption will cost us.  Thank you in advance for whatever assistance you can offer, even if it is only to keep us in your prayers.
