Christine F's Journey Home

Donation protected
In 2008, Christine F. was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She finished up her treatment in May 2009 and had normal blood results for a couple years after that.  In 2011, she relapsed.  A few months later, she was able to get a bone marrow transplant.  In 2012, she started having issues with her lungs due to the transplant.  She went on oxygen, but she was still able to mostly go about her life, so long as she brought her oxygen tank along.

On July 13, 2013, she married the love of her life, Dave.  Around that same time, she started having more serious issues with her lungs.  She was in and out of the hospital a couple times, but in late July/early August she reached a point where it was clear that she needed to be on the ventilator at the hospital with full time care until she either got better or got a lung transplant.  Over the next year or so, she had good days and bad days.  However, in the past few weeks, she started having a lot of setbacks.  New issues started popping up with her kidneys, heart, GI system...  She was transfered into critical care, but Christine told them she didn't want any more invasive treatments.  She just wanted to go home (both literally and figuratively).

As such, her family, friends, and hospital staff are doing everything they can so she can spend her final days at home with her family (she hasn't been out of the hospital since July/August 2013).  For this to happen, she needs to have a ventilator, which will cost around $2000 to rent.  Thus far, insurance has not agreed to cover this cost.  So, we set up a fund for her so that she would still be able to spend her final days at home, regardless of whether or not it is covered by insurance.

We're also raising money to help Dave with his living expenses, so that he can take time off work to spend these last days with his wife, Christine.  If insurance decides to cover the ventilator, all the funds will go towards helping Dave, or covering any of Christine's medical expenses that come up.

Christine has been very much looking forward to going home, and as a close friend of hers, I thank you very much for helping to make this possible.
