Autumn Leaves

It's no surprise that this has been difficult several months for all not-for-profits and charities. The COVID-19 shutdowns across Canada and around the world have put a strange on both organizations and the supporters that keep them sustained and growing.

voicEd Radio was established in 2017 with a single purpose in mind:

To deepen and broaden the conversations that we have about public education.

From the very start, we have believed that, in order to change the way we THINK about education, we have to change the way we TALK about education. That's our theory of change and our chosen medium for putting that theory into practice has been RADIO.

Our 24/7 radio stream is starting to feature more and more live content. We have a robust telecommunications platform that allows us to connect to listeners and community members. We have developed multiple ways for people to connect to our live and on demand content.

Yet, we have been placed in a position the future of our work is in question.  As it stands, we have funds to keep us going until the end of December.  After that, we're just not sure. (We're not just saying that; my accountant assures me that it is true!)

From a content perspective, we are growing— a lot! I get several every week, asking for support in developing a podcast idea, a live show concept or a conversation theme that would like to see in this space.

But, running a 24/7 radio station with the relevant, if not provocative, content that need to be happening in the public square does require about $1100 per month. That's just the price of keeping the lights on. No salaries, no honoraria and no contracts.

In order to be able to make real impact, however, we need to think beyond merely surviving. We need to be able to attract the talent that is going to make this place really sing.  And we need to be able to start paying that talent for their work.

So, our autumn campaign is critical to the future of voicEd Radio. We're looking to engage listeners, content creators and supporters who understand the value of what we are building here and the potential to begin to make real impact.

The success of our Autumn Leaves campaign will determine how much we are able to lean into the future and continue to make that impact. Please consider showing your support by a small (or not-so-small) contribution TODAY!

If you have already donated to voicEd Radio this year, please accept our sincere thanks. If you are considering making a donation, now is the time!

With gratitude,
