Jennifer's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Bull Rider. J-Dub. JWilli. Weezy. The many affectionate nicknames Jennifer has been called over the years. Whatever name you've called her, however you know her, she needs your help! As many of you know, Jennifer is facing a significant, frightening health crisis. On 9/30/2017, Jennifer began to experience symptoms similar to an allergic reaction...hives, eye drainage, etc. Eventually, she ended up in the ER. After several rounds of medication, they were unable to get her symptoms under control and she was admitted to the hospital. After several very scary days with no answers or definitive treatment at a local community hospital, she was transferred in an ambulance to the burn unit at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Jennifer has been diagnosed with Erythema Multiform (major)/Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, which is a severe, potentially life-threatening disorder. Jennifer's entire body is covered with painful blisters. She also has significant mucosal involvement--meaning that her entire mouth (inside and out) is covered with agonizing blisters, making eating and drinking painfully impossible. Currently, Jennifer's skin is in the sloughing state, which means that her skin is peeling off of her body leaving large areas painfully exposed and placing her at risk for severe infection. On 10/10/2017 she had an urgent eye surgery--an Amniotic Corneal Tissue Graft to prevent permanent scarring and long-term vision problems. It is very likely that she will require a second surgery. She will need to keep both eyes protected, leaving her unable to see.
As you can imagine, this sudden, unexpected illness is really taking it's toll on Jennifer---physically, mentally, and now financially. Jennifer still has a few weeks of PTO left, but this will run out soon. It is unclear when she will be able to return to work, but it will be a minimum of several weeks and could be as long as several months. Her health insurance has a deductible of several thousand dollars and her maximum out of pocket expense before full insurance coverage is effective is over $10,000.
Jennifer needs all of our help right now. Friends, co-workers, friends of friends--any help that you can provide to help cover Jennifer's mounting medical bills will be so appreciated! If you know Jennifer at all, you know that she LOATHES the idea of asking for help. But you also know that she would be (and has been) the first one there if someone else needed help. Please help us help her through this horrific experience.
