Beloved Teacher Loses Family Home in Fire

On September 30, 2023, tragedy struck a beloved teacher and community member, Chastity Perry. A devastating fire, originating in her laundry room, engulfed her cherished family home, erasing a treasure trove of memories. To compound their heartache, the Perry family tragically lost their beloved cats in the inferno, and their dog required emergency vet care.

Chastity Perry has been a cornerstone of our community for decades. Her teaching journey began in 1999, nurturing countless young minds from infancy through Kindergarten. She joined Madison County Schools as a dedicated Title I Pre-K teacher, and for over seven years, she has been the inspirational lead teacher in Walnut Grove's First Class Pre-K program.

Chastity Perry's roots run deep in Walnut Grove, where she was once a student, just like her two children. Her unwavering love for this community is evident in the lives she has touched, shaping the future of countless children in the Walnut Grove area.

Her classroom stands as a beacon of excellence, recognized as one of only three Conscious Discipline model classrooms in Madison County. Chastity is a pioneering leader among our preschool teachers, continually raising the bar for early childhood education in our school system.
