Hope for Healing: Give Nolan a Chance

Our family adopted Nolan in 2013 when he was seven years old. Nolan came to us from a place of neglect and abuse where he suffered from deep mental and emotional trauma at a very young age. Now, seven years later, Nolan still struggles with an illness commonly referred to as RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) as well as PTSD. These disorders manifest themselves in the way that Nolan lives his life and interacts with others. Struggling to give and receive love, Nolan acts out in ways that push away those closest to him. He separates himself from meaningful relationships, refuses to attach to us as his new family, and actively lashes out to ensure we are kept at a distance. Unable to cope with the myriad of emotions resulting from his traumatic experiences, Nolan responds by retreating into emotional isolation and rejects any attempts we make to express love and care towards him. Our family has provided Nolan with as much love and mental health care as possible since we first welcomed him into our lives seven years ago. It has become increasingly clear, however, that Nolan’s struggles are beyond what our family is capable of giving.

Calo teens https://caloteens.com/  is a nationally recognized treatment center in Lake Ozarks, Missouri that seeks to help and heal adoptive teens suffering from the effects of developmental trauma. In all sincerity, our family believes that receiving treatment at a place like Calo may be the only hope Nolan has to break out of the debilitating cycle of trauma that characterizes his current state and find true healing. Such a place requires financial resources that we cannot provide on our own. In order to make Calo a reality for Nolan we are in great need of monetary assistance. One year of treatment requires $180,000 and Nolan has been accepted to begin the program at the end of August 2020.  We love Nolan and we want him to live joyfully and freely and we think Calo can be a huge catalyst for this to happen.
