In April of 2016, after several years of development, Tom Taylor , with the support and endorsement of Tam Tam Mandingue Djembe Academy , released djembeföla! for iOS -- a learning tool that has not only revolutionized the way students can learn djembe , but has also helped support an entire ecosystem for the preservation of Mandingue rhythm & dance culture .
Since it's release in 2016, the iOS version of djembeföla! has been a huge success, but here's the thing... it's not available for Android devices.
Yeah, it's a crying shame.
WHY is there no Android version of this amazing app?
Here's why:
• It cost Tom over $20,000 to code the iOS app version.
That's the out-of-pocket, to date -- for just the coding -- it doesn't include any of the playing, recording, editing or engineering costs -- those were all given freely by Tom Taylor and senior members of TTMDA .
• The initial download is free.
We wanted to reach as many people as possible, so in-app purchases are the only revenue stream feeding the ongoing development, and as much as folks are contributing by making those in-app purchases, we estimate another year before the iOS version is paid off. There's just not enough to develop the app over both platforms, so the Android version has unfortunately taken a back seat.
We want to change that.
This is where YOU come in. We've had countless requests for a 'droid version of djembeföla! We already know it will be a huge success. We just need to build it! So here's your chance to be a part of that...
