Hi. I am asking for $10 from anyone who is willing to support me.
Why am I asking you for help:
I am two quarters away from completing my BA in Psychology/Addiction Studies at Antioch University. I now make just enough money to disqualify me for financial aid and not enough to pay for remaning portion of the BA program. I am writing for scholarships and seeking potential Veteran's Association loans to pay for the final 26 units. The total amount I need to graduate is $16,193, however I need a bare minimum of $7,500 for tuition to remain in school as I pursue these other options. Once I complete the BA program, I qualify for financial aid for MA program.
I am not the girl who grew up thinking she’s worth a degree. I am the girl who told herself she didn’t need one because she was too scared to fail or too afraid to succeed. School has not been easy for me. I have been diligent and dedicated to get this far academically, my self- esteem rising with each successfully completed quarter. Equally important to this process was the time and effort my friends’ gave to support and literally sit with me while I completed assignments.
~ In exchange for your contribution, I can promise you a few things: First, I will continue to live out loud, pay attention to, love, and help as many people as I can. Second, I will remind people that they are capable of creating new paths that lead to new destinations at any age. Third, I will use this education to advocate a stronger educational message about the effectiveness of a 12-step program when used with multi-modal approaches in the treatment of addiction. Lastly, I will use my talent and skills to foster healing from the familial messages and cultural undertones of a fear-driven system; a system that continues to divert us from living the lives we deeply need to live.
