Diyas for Diversity is a fundraising campaign that aims to add diverse books from the four corners of the world into the Public Libraries of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Books bring the world to children's feet, especially, when their little feet can't take them everywhere. Reading global literature opens a child's mind to new ideas, thereby, expanding their horizons.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated to signify the victory of knowledge over ignorance. Diyas are lit to expel darkness - physically and metaphorically.
In 2018, by selling 440 hand-painted Diyas (clay oil lamps lit for Diwali), Diyas For Diversity was able to raise over $3000, all of which was donated to the public libraries through which a new collection was launched on October 2nd, 2019.
Join the festivities, again, this year by lighting #DiyasForDiversity and help ignite a young mind. Bring the world to their feet!
Any contribution is welcome.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to buy Diya sets (for a minimum contribution is 2/$10, 4/$20, 8/$40).
Thank you for your generosity and support! Happy Diwali!
