Home. A place where one feels at ease. Home is much like a security blanket, inducing feelings of safety and happiness. No matter what, one can walk in the front door and immediately become overwhelmed with a sense of security and peace. Our family has overcome many trials in the past few years. Between my mother taking a stroke and my grandfather being diagnosed with prostate cancer, as fate would have it, another trial has ripped a seam in our metaphorical security blanket. On August 14th, 2018 our home’s retention walls failed. From this failure, the backfill used in building our home caused the foundation to crumble and push in on our southern wall. The damage has been estimated at $45,000, possibly more. We must replace two walls in our home, the retention walls, dig up the concrete on the side of the house, and much more. There is also the looming possibility this section of our home may crumble at any time, causing us to evacuate with our pets. My grandparents have lived in this home for over 48 years. They built this home from the ground up. They have raised my father, watched me grow up, and now watch my little brother grow in this same home. I have never seen such resilient and compassionate people in my 24 years on earth. My grandparents came from nothing and worked for everything they have. No one handed them anything. They have helped many, and never asked for anything in return. I am inspired by them daily to have courage and be kind in every situation. My father learned much from them. He shares their kindhearted, compassionate nature as does my mother. They too have worked for all they had. My father continues to work, tirelessly, to ensure we have a good life. His hands are callous, scared, cut and beaten so that I could attend college and so he could give us the world. Could we do this on our own, we would. It is with humbled hearts that we ask for any type of donation to fix what has been done. We have nowhere to go and turn to our dearest family and friends in our hour of need. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and ask that you might share this post with whomever may be able to help.
