Diverticulitis/perforated intestine

Donation protected

Hi my name is George Alvarado I've always been a hard working person and family man. My intestines are torn and leaking into my body.  It looks like the doctors can help, but may be a long road to recovery.  Our family has run out of savings and bills are piling up. For the full story read below.  Your help and prayers are greatly appreciated! Thankyou, George & Family About 4 months ago my Veronica gave birth to my beautiful baby girl Valerie.  Since then, Veronica went through a rough time of postpartum depression so I took some time from work to help out with the kids.  We have 3 kids; a 9 year old named Andy , 3 year old named Jayden and my 4 month old Valerie.  Two weeks after Valerie was born I started to have really bad cramps in my stomach, bad fevers, and lack of energy. I got blood work and ultrasounds done but the first time around the doctor didn't find anything. The tests came back with good results but the pain was still there. I decided to get a second opinion and went to Sharp hospital. One of the doctors told me that just by my symptoms it seemed like a hernia. They failed to do any tests and sent me back home with my pain. A few days later I went to a family clinic near my home. This doctor told me that my symptoms indicated a hernia as well but just to make sure it was a hernia she sent me to get a CT scan. The CT scan was performed 3 days after my visit to the family clinic at 5pm. 3 hours later I received a call from the doctor who reviewed my CT test they told me to go immediately to the E.R. because my test showed a perforation on my colon.  Intestine fluid and gas was leaking inside my stomach and had contaminated my belly. That was the cause of all my pain and discomfort.  I immediately went to Sharp hospital E.R.  I checked in around 8:30pm and asked the person at the front desk to have a doctor contact the doctor who reviewed my CT test to explain to them my situation. Four hours passed before a doctor spoke to me after my arrival. 3 hours later I got admitted to the hospital. I spent the next 4 days on nothing but antibiotics and IV.  No food by mouth. On the 5th day the doc allowed me to eat jello and water around 7 pm. The 6th day they gave me chicken and mash potatoes around 3 pm.  My stomach felt irritated after that meal and I asked the nurse if that was normal she said not to worry,  that I was going to be ok.  Two hours later they discharged me from the hospital with an irritated stomach. I asked to speak to the doctor before leaving.  The nurse told me that he wasn't available and to just go home and that if my pain continued to go to my primary doctor or back to the E.R.   Sure enough 5 days later I was back in the E.R feeling much worse than the first time. For my next visit to the E.R. I went to a different Sharp hospital located in Chula Vista, CA because the service I received in the first hospital was horrible.  The Chula Vista hospital doctors have been great! The first day I arrived I had 3 doctors come talk to me they did another CT scan to figure out my problem. The next day early in the morning the surgeon had a drain pipe put in my stomach to drain out all the fluid in my belly. This is what you see in one of the pictures.  I spent the next 9 days in this hospital with antibiotics and IV and on a soft food diet.  On my 9th day I got released feeling well but still with the drain pipe in my stomach.  As of now, the surgeon is just waiting on my intestine to go back to normal to be able to perform surgery to close up the intestine.   This past 4 months have been tough. I haven't been able to spend time with my kids like I wish to or play with them like I used to do. I feel bad for Veronica, she has so much on her plate and I cant even help with the kiddos.  The worst of my problems is I can't even work to provide for my family.  We have no savings.  I've had to sell lots of my personal stuff just to keep afloat. This has been the worst medical and financial challenge for our  family and we would really appreciate any help. We have bills stacking up and I have a while until my full recovery. If you are going through any medical issues I’m sorry don’t put your self down instead let’s keep our heads up and think positively; remember we are not alone
