Rock the School Bells- Hawaii

We are holding Hawaii’s 2nd hip hop education conference focusing on the five elements of hip-hop: DJ, MC, B-Boy, Aerosol Art, & Knowledge of Self. Middle and high school students as well as educators from various communities in Hawaii will have the unique opportunity to work while participating in each of the elements of Hip-Hop. Local Hip-Hop practitioners will provide the history and significance of each element and share their own personal experience with hip-hop. The activities that follow will provide opportunities for students to: think critically about current issues in the world and in our communities, read and write about topics related to their life’s experiences, display effective oral and written communication, and understand the historical and cultural aspects of Hip Hop and its effect on society and education. With your help and support, we are able to provide this experience for teachers and students .
We are in need of the following:
·      airfare and lodging for guest artists,
·      art supplies, plywood, spray paint
·      Sponsorship for the “swag bags” and t shirts
·      facility rental fees, and
·      Food & monetary donations

Our non-profit ID number will be included on your receipt to ensure your donation is tax deductible.  We want to thank you in advance for your willingness to help make this event a success. Because of our unique geographic location, we simply don’t have access to the same opportunities that our counterparts on the mainland have available to them. Without the ongoing support of our local businesses and community members, we would not have the resources to make this happen, and clearly, there is no investment more important than the investment we make in the future of our youth.
