hello!

we are DISCOUNT GUILLOTINE, a small press founded in NYC in 2024 by Maya Cordero that has since grown to host readings in London, DC, and Philadelphia, with shows coming to Berlin soon.

since august of last year we have hosted 26 events featuring more than 120 different artists, and we plan to host 40 more this year. we run an online journal which has featured 32 authors, and our first print journal featured 26 writers from 5 countries. we also accept poetry and writing in mandarin, spanish, french, german, and greek in addition to english. we strive to provide a platform to as many people as possible, and establish physical and digital communities across the globe.

it has become increasingly difficult to manage DISCOUNT GUILLOTINE without adequate funding. the price of printing our first books, paying traveling artists, and paying venue fees are all being covered out of pocket. we are several hundred dollars behind on raising funds for our next 2 books. if possible we would love to publish at least 5 more books, and 1 more print journal this year.

we are currently seeking $2,500 in financial support in order to continue growing as a platform for our artists, and to ease the financial burden on our collective members.
