Disaster Relief for Kerala Families

Our family and friends in Kerala need our help!
Throughout the last two weeks, we’ve been hearing updates from our son-in-law Jonathan’s family in Kerala, India about the devastating flooding that has been ravaging their state. Due to an abundance of rainfall this summer, most of Kerala’s dams were full to the point of overflowing and had to be opened, unleashing floods on the cities and towns along those rivers.
Jonathan’s immediate family had to evacuate their home for three days when the water rose to knee level and invaded their entire island neighborhood. While they are all safe and accounted for, many families in nearby neighborhoods lost everything they had in the flooding.
As of August 21st, more than 400 people have died and around 800,000 have been displaced by heavy monsoons, landslides and overflowing reservoirs. More than 1 million people, including women, toddlers and senior citizens have been staying in various relief camps after losing or evacuating their homes.
Communities around the world are contributing to disaster relief for Kerala. But we want to help a few select families get the money they need to rebuild their lives. Some of them literally walked away from their homes with only the clothes on their backs and went back to NOTHING. Houses completely submerged in muddy, dirty, germ infested flood waters, and everything inside ruined.
Please help us bless these few families and communities in their need.
*We are Mike and Marsha Wilder in Minnesota and Jonathan Pious Kepha is our son-in-law. His family in Kerala will be the recipient of the funds raised here on gofundme. We have already wired the first portion to Jonathan's father in India to be used for replacing losses due to the flooding, and we will make a final wire transfer when the campaign comes to a close.
