Disaster relief for April & 3yr old son Jasper!

April Caywood, her 3yr old son Jasper, and father survived Hurricane Ian but their home and car were a total loss. They were stranded on Sanibel Island after the only bridge to the Island collapsed in the hurricane. They finally caught a rescue boat off on October 1st with a garbage bag of things they salvaged from their sludge filled home. Funds raised will help meet their immediate needs for shelter, food and clothing until other disaster funds can be accessed.

The day of evacuation, April was working as a nurse and couldn’t leave until the A team relieved her. By the time she got home evacuation was no longer an option. They fled their one level home and were taken in by a neighbor in a stilt home as their home became completely submerged under water.
Some of the only items she could salvage from her home were her mother’s ashes, passports and her son’s baby book. They lost everything from their home and car to her son’s favorite hedgehog stuffed animal. It’s a miracle they survived, but they are still stranded on the island.
Funds will help the family alleviate the pressures of trying to rebuild their lives after this disaster while they wait for aid from the state. These funds will allow them to have some basic necessities and take away the stress of worrying about things like shelter, food, and clothing. All funds will be directly deposited into April’s checking account to use for her family’s basic needs once they are rescued from the island.
