Disaster Costs Young Family Home

https://www.wwlp.com/news/local-news/hampden-county/tree-falls-on-house-seconds-after-springfield-mothers-quick-thinking-to-save-kids/ On Wednesday, October 16th, at 11:24 pm, my brother and sister in law were in their home during the awful rain and windstorm that plagued our area. My sister in law felt that the wind was getting bad and insisted on moving the children out of their bedroom and into the living room. Less than a minute later, a very large tree ripped from the ground and plummeted straight onto their house, leaving structural damage and a large hole above the crib where my nephew had been sleeping moments prior. We have removed as many of the clothes and other necessities from the home as we could under the supervision of the supervisors that have come to view the damage, but the long term damage will leave this young family with two children under the age of four effectively homeless until the home can be deemed either habitable again or condemned. They are currently staying with family that is making room for them, as they spent their entire savings to purchase this home and have no money to even purchase a hotel room for however long the repairs take. In addition, due to my brother missing work, his job will not reimburse him for the missed shifts thanks to the disaster Thank you!!
