<div>In 2022, while I was on active duty and stationed out of state, I purchased a home using my VA loan — trusting the protections of a government-backed loan and the integrity of those involved in the process.

<div>I am now a 100% disabled through the VA, medically retired U.S. Air Force veteran, and that trust has been <em>deeply</em> violated.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What I Found After Moving In</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Shortly after moving in, I uncovered extensive, seemingly concealed damage that made the home unsafe — possibly uninhabitable:

<li>"Sealed-over" foundation breaches and wall damage
</li>
</ul>

</div>
<ul>
<li>Mold and long-term water intrusion behind walls and floors
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Rot hidden under newly installed carpeting
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Roofing defects and flashing failures
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Structural deterioration "fixed" with potentially cosmetic cover-ups
</li>
</ul>

</div>
<div><em>None</em> of this was disclosed. Many of the repairs that were contractually agreed to were <strong><em>never</em></strong> completed, or were done improperly, with <strong><em>zero</em></strong> permitting or inspections.

</div>
<div><strong>I Did <em>Everything</em> Right</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I followed <em>every</em> step required in the VA loan process. I had a home inspection, requested repairs for significant items, and signed all the right forms. When I noticed red flags, I even signed a <strong><em>termination</em></strong> notice.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>But,</strong> my agent (as I have perceived it) <em>pushed against</em> it, and I was seemingly pressured to close.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After closing, I tried to get answers. The listing brokerage <em>refused</em> to provide key repair invoices and contractor records, claiming they had no responsibility to me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The VA Failed Me Too</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I contacted the VA Home Loan division for support. They told me they held no liability in the transaction.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite this being a VA-backed home purchase, and despite the VA's own Minimum Property Requirements, they failed to enforce <em>their very own</em> protections meant to "<em>protect</em>" veterans.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>This Feels <em>Predatory</em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I was an out-of-state, active-duty buyer — vulnerable and trusting. The people involved knew that. And the systems in place <strong>failed</strong> to protect me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This isn't just a home with issues. It’s a chain of <em>failures</em> that left a disabled veteran with a broken house, legal dead ends, and nowhere to turn.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Why I'm Asking for Help</strong>

<div><strong>This Is <em>Far </em>Bigger Than Me</strong>

<div>If this can happen to me — someone who followed <em>every</em> rule — it can happen to other veterans, too. <strong>I'm standing up not just to recover my home, but to speak out about how easily the system fails the very people it claims to protect.</strong>

<div>As I move forward — legally, financially, and personally — I plan to share updates about what happens next.
</div>

<div>I’m documenting this journey not just for myself, but for other veterans who could face the same thing. Whether it’s repair photos, legal milestones, or just honest updates, I want to be transparent about what this fight looks like.
