Disabled Vet Needs A Van

Donation protected
Robert is a disabled honorably discharged veteran who served as a medic in the 82nd Airborne. Currently Robert takes public transportation in his power chair to hospitals, clinics, doctor appointments, the grocery store and pool therapy. Robert rarely complains about his deteriorating condition even though each day presents him with new challenges.

His disease IBM (Inclusion Body Myositis) is a rare, incurable, progressive, neuromuscular, disease which has progressed to the point he has lost most of the use of his arms, legs, & hands to where he can not stand, and he cannot lift objects more than 1 pound.

Robert's hope is to one day have a more private, efficient way to travel using a wheelchair accessible van of his own. We lack necessary funds in order to obtain a loan for an affordable monthly payment.

The VA will equip a van if he buys it himself but it has to be relatively new (3 years old or newer) which makes the monthly payment too high for the budget.

It is very difficult to ride public transportation due to the long bus routes, 5 1/2 hour round trips are too difficult. His condition requires his caregivers to help with everything. We need more privacy as he travels.

All we lack is down payment assistance to purchase an affordable van so the VA can convert it to an accessible van.

Thank you for your prayers regarding our situation.
