TSLW Facts

We desperately need your help.

Triangle South Literacy Works' mission is to empower adult learners to improve their quality of life through education. Triangle South Literacy Works (TSLW) is a non-profit volunteer-based organization. TSLW helps adults improve their reading, writing, math, English language and computer skills through one-to-one tutoring and small group instruction. Our programs are confidential and provided at no cost to the student or tutor. We offer an Adult Basic Education program (ABE) which is focused on basic education components of reading, writing, and math.

We match the students with an appropriate learning series based on professional adult education assessments (CASAS). The student is then matched with a tutor and the learning begins at a mutually convenient location and time. All the materials for learning are free to the student. The same process is followed with our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and the Computer Skills program. TSLW consists of 1 P/T ED, 1 P/T ESOL Coordinator, and 50 volunteers,

In addition, Triangle South Literacy Works has an ESOL Coordinator that helps to improve your skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English. ESOL classes can help you find a job, prepare for citizenship, advance professionally, and become more involved in neighborhood and community life. We offer classes at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Periodically, we offer the following courses: financial literacy, smart phones, job vocabulary.  All classes are free of charge.

We offer Financial literacy courses to help the student understand how money works in society, as well as: how to manage to make or earn money, how to manage finances, how to invest it and how and when to donate it to help others.

We also offer citizenship courses as well.
