Dion & Dominique Gymnastics Dreams

Dion and Dominique Williams have dreams of being  gymnastics champions...

Here is their story
2015…only two years ago.
The family watched as two young girls grew into a passionate pursuit of the sport of gymnastics.

Dion climbed bannisters when she was barely able to walk a natural climber never afraid of heights!

Dominique has followed her big sister while achieving her own goals. She loves to dance and flip!
We’ve seen Dion and Dominique flip while they watched online gymnastics performances and learned the names of their favorite athletes displaying how to execute skills to perfection.  Dominique 8 and Dion10 years old (at the time) taught the family the correct names of the skills they performed. We watched the girls practice in the living-room at home; at Mom-Mom’s; at Nana’s house; in the hallways; on the porch; at picnics; at barbecues; at birthday parties; on the beach or just walking along the street. ..you get the picture. 

Dion and Dominique were so enthusiastic about the sport but had no formal training.  It was obvious  with all that talent and passion a gymnastics training program was the next logical step.  

We were motivated by Dion and Dominique.  We had no idea what we in for but we knew it would require a time commitment from them and a financial commitment from family. We were all in. We would figure it all out after we found a program..... how to pay; how to get them to a minimum of three practices a week and how to get to early morning weekend competitions.    

Pop-pop Kimble found the center; if their academics remained in good standing their school agreed they could leave a little early on practice days.  Mom-Mom agreed to chauffer since Mom and Dad had no car at the time.

Dion (DD) and Dominique (Dime) started their journey in September 2015 at the Water Tower Recreational Center, in Chestnut Hill. PA, a small suburb outside of Philadelphia 

We made the trek to the center for more information and what turned out to be an on the spot try out. .  They each demonstrated their skills and willingness to try anything without fear.  The Gymnastics Coaches and Mentors were amazed that the girls had no formal training. They slipped “Beginners” level.  Dominique and Dion were  placed in Intermediate level and rapidly advanced to Level 1 of the Water Tower Thundercats Gymnastics Team! …but that was only the beginning 

Dion and Dominique were both 2nd place Division   Tumbling Champions in each of their respective levels.

Flash forward to today
2017 Now... They love the sport even more, they practice, they work hard to hone their talents and they are winning competitions.  They are also on the honor-roll at school. Dion was inducted into the national honor society this June 2017. Dominique is the top Mathalete in her class!  and Uncle Kyle gave his car to their Mom to help out.

Dion and Dominique are Level 3 2017 Eastern PA State Champions for their respective age groups (9 and 11).  They have officially qualified as Junior Olympians for USA Gymnastics.

Now the pitch.....
The past two years have been a challenge and it's getting more and more expensive.  Training Sessions, based on their levels, range from $400 - $700 each for the season. Leotards cost from $35 (practice) to $150 (required for the competition.) Transportation to and from competitions is not funded and each meet has a registration fee of $100. The girls have also been asked to join an invitational only gymnastics summer program, considered a privileged, but cost $600-$750 for the camp. Here’s a snapshot of some of last years’ expenses
