"The Strength of the Waves is in their Perseverance"
A Christmas Day Swim like no other.
To Support L.A.S.T.   (Lost At Sea Tragedies) A charity close to our hearts.
If you are having a dip.. please consider a small donation to LAST

Due to the challenges attached to this Christmas Day, we will not be having an organised swim at Beenbawn Beach this year.
For as long as I can remember, we have put our hearts and souls into this day making it as special as possible.

This year for safety and health reasons,  we will be asking you all to be responsible when you go for your Christmas day swim. We would love your support with our Charity choice, and if you would like to drop a donation to me I would be delighted to pass it on.

I will be on the beach at Beenbawn between 9am -10.30am for any families groups with kids, or friends who feel they would like some safety cover-I know people need support with the cold. So I am happy to be there and happy to support (the beach is my happy place and I will there on the rocks anyway)
I will also come out for the sunset 3pm- 4.30pm where I will also assist with safety support if anyone choses to come for a later swim. I will help you with your swim-if anyone needs help to get in.
message me -feel free -It's a tough time for everyone, but tradition is so important and especially some sense of normality.

For sure,  go to the beach and have a splash and dash.
Remember that "The Salt Water is cure for so many things, tears and the sea"
Please act within the Covid-19 Regulations.
Please respect social distancing with those around you.
Please be responsible around other swimmers, especially if you are part of a group, please respect those who may need to protect themselves and give them the space they deserve.
STAY SAFE in the cold water.
I will be writing some Christmas day swim tips in the coming days

As most people know we have lost our wonderful Mary,  who was central to our Christmas Day Swim experiences. She was the Christmas Elf-
As the number increased for drinks, Mary responded by merely increasing the number of pots, she supplied drinks and smiles for hundreds of people.
I would love everyone to have a safe and healthy Christmas and where ever you swim, raise your flask to her memory.

LAST’s Aims
Tragedy and inconsolable death are an all too regular occurrence for our seafaring communities.
Whilst the fishermen who brave our Atlantic seas bear the risks with equanimity it is often the bereaved neighbours, friends and of course the families who are left to mourn the price that the sea demands from its harvesters. LAST has arisen from such a tragedy and its aims are:

To actively promote safety at sea for our fishing men and women
To provide support for bereaved communities
To fundraise on an ongoing basis
To promote & campaign for the preservation of our fishing heritage
To provide a structured ready-made vehicle to allow bereaved communities to support their neighbours at their time of need, firstly at the time of the event itself and thereafter in organising fundraising
To fundraise on an ongoing basis to ensure that sufficient funds are available at the instance of a tragedy, i.e. to be able to provide assistance such as media relations, liaison services, counselling, support to search and rescue staff, etc.
We are here to help in any way practicable, and welcome the contributions of all.
