Dillon Potter - IBEW Family Assistance Fund

Donation protected
On Tuesday, September 6th, at approximately 9:30 am, our Brother Dillon Potter was severely burned in an electrical explosion after a cross arm carrying a 12,000-volt power line fell on him while at work in the air. The impact knocked him unconscious and the 12kv powerlines came in contact with the 4kv lines below him, which caused a ball of fire to engulf the entire pole top. He was life-flighted in a helicopter from the scene of the incident on Highway 78 in Ramona to the Burn Center at UCSD in Hillcrest, where he is currently being treated for second-degree burns over 20% of his body. Dillon (IBEW Card # 8000157) is a Journeyman Lineman at SDG&E, is only 29 years old, and has an 8-month-old baby (Dillon Jay Potter Jr.) at home in Ramona, where he and his partner Jennifer Sepulveda just purchased their first home together. Jennifer and Dillon have two children, Dillon Jr (8 months old) and Elaina (16 years old). The scope of his injuries is unclear at this point, but he has a long road ahead and will need all the help we can provide, especially with a newborn at home. We hope that this fundraiser's proceeds can help our brother and his family in their time of need. Please pray for our brother, donate if you can and help us spread the word.

Dillon worked outside construction before hiring on at SDG&E and joining our IBEW 465 family; he was born in Washington and worked at IBEW Local 66 in Texas. He is a graduate of the North West Lineman College and has dozens of close friends through the NLC community. We are asking everyone who worked with our brother, everyone who knows him, and everyone who heard of this tragic 12kv contact to please donate and spread the word. Our IBEW/Linemen community is tight-knit, and Dillon needs us all right now. (This fundraiser was started with Dillon and Jennifer's permission, and all proceeds will go directly to Dillon and his family.)

(My name is Nate Fairman, and I am the Business Manager of IBEW Local Union 465 is San Diego, CA. I represent 2,900 union utility workers at nine different utility properties in Southern California, including all the workers at SDG&E, where Dillon works. When our members get hurt or need assistance, we always jump to help in any way possible. We visited with Dillon all day yesterday, have been supporting Jennifer in any way we can, and have received permission to start this GoFundMe. The beneficiary of the fundraiser is Dillon Potter himself.)
