My mom got sick in August 2002. She was 39 years old and I, only 15.
I spent Christmas next to her hospital bed, praying that this nightmare that was happening to us would go away.
She lost half a breast and some of her lymph nodes from her right arm.
She did radio theraphy and citostatic treatment in Romania for Invasive ductal carcinoma. We beat the disease this time and all was good...
But in June 2011 the cancer was back. Pleural secondary determinations. Papillary serous adenocarcinoma. Secondary tumor proliferation with genital origin. Basically, it was a new cancer. This time ovarian cancer. We beat the disease again!
In December 2012 the bone structure of the body was attacked by the breast cancer. Her spine was full of tumors.
Again, and again, we are fighting the cancer. So nothing new for us, back to square 1...
But in September 2013, we discovered the cancer moved further.
Mediastinal and abdominal tumors. Peritoneal carcinomatosis.
We have depleted all of our resources and ways of treatment in Romania. The hospitals here are very poorly equiped. My mother used to have her chemo theraphy in a room with 2 beds, together with other 7 or 8 pacients. She did the treatment several times on the hallway of the hospital because of the lack of space. We buy the needles for the treatment and many other things because the hospital doesn't have them...
The treatment monitoring lacks. No follow up on the effiency of the drugs. We just follow the treatment and if the pacient is still alive all is good. If not... nobody cares!
In August 2014 we went on a medical trip to Turkey to Anadolu Medical Center (In collaboration with John Hopkins). They changed the treatment there but we need to go in November to repeat the PET/CT and do a biopsy of the liver (now she has tumors also on the liver). We need this money to go to Turkey. This is our only hope.
My mom is fighting cancer from 2002. In poorly conditions. She is a survior. And a fighter. We did this on our own until now. We need all the help we can get. We need money to buy time. More time to spend together. She's 51 years old.
I want her to know her grandchildren some day. Please help me do that.
