JR Polly

Urgent - J.R. aka John Polly has run out of money for his assisted housing.  J.R. is a simple man who rode a bike as his only transportation up until he was 87.  He lost his house & bike in a fire on 1/1/15 and moved into a trailer on a remote ranch.  He was removed from his trailer earlier this year due to being overrun by rats, living in squalor and exposed electrical wires.  He could not take care of himself.  He went to the hospital for a week and then was released.  Here is his situation -   JR is not sick enough to be in a full skill nursing home which would be covered by his medical insurance.  He is not able to take care of himself.  So he falls in the proverbial GAP in the system.   He has depleted his savings of nearly $9000 to pay for the shortfall between his monthly stipend of VA benefits and his SSI and the cost of assisted living.  Simply he gets $1000 a month and his housing costs $2500 - which is a very good deal in So. Cal.    When he was released from the hospital, it was estimated that he had 3 mths to live by the medical staff and Hospice.  However he has done fairly well and is outliving his money.   If we don't raise the money, he will be put into a county facility offering much less care and will disrupt his final days.  I have tried to find other avenues for sourcing and support but there is no options available.  JR is not sick enough for skilled nursing and not well enough to take care of himself.  He has ZERO family.  I have known JR for over 14 years, we met at a bike shop and our family has helped him in all the ways we can.  I am hoping you can help so we can let him die in dignity in his current facility.  My estimate is he would need at least 4 mths of funding to cover the shortfall - $6000.  Thanks for your consideration.
