My name is Isela Ponce De Leon, and I am raising funds to create an affordable assisted living home for people with Parkinson’s in the Inland Empire. My sister Diana was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 45 years old. She was always the life of the party, smiling and in control, but her life changed dramatically after her diagnosis. Over the years, Diana has lost much of her mobility and speech, and now, at 59, she can no longer stand on her own. Her husband left her, and her daughter is her primary caregiver, which is often overwhelming and isolating for both of them.

 Watching Diana’s journey has shown me how devastating Parkinson’s can be—not just physically, but emotionally. The hardest part has been seeing her struggle with solitude and dependence, to the point where she sometimes feels like giving up. Even though she still manages a smile, we know the heartache she carries inside. Our family, like many others, cannot afford the specialized care she needs, and it’s heartbreaking to see her go without the support she deserves.

That’s why I am committed to opening a home where people like Diana can receive the care, dignity, and community they need, regardless of their financial situation. The funds raised will help secure a safe location, begin the licensing process, hire compassionate staff, and provide essential equipment for residents. No family should have to face this journey alone, and with your support, we can create a place of hope and healing for those living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
