Digital literacy for students in Sierra Leone
Reboot2Kids is a student-founded non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, that aims to develop digital literacy for kids in developing countries. We are collecting used phones, tablets and laptops from the community to create the first computer labs in our selected schools. The devices will be connected to the eGranary, a digital eLibrary server which provides off-line access to over 35 million digital resources, emulating the internet experience without needing any internet service.
Each computer lab will be delivered to the schools as a stand alone package that can be self-sustained by the schools going forward. Internet costs and access have been a main obstacle in digital literacy projects. We will also send a kid-friendly manual we have developed for getting started learning ICT.
We are already collecting devices and we will have help with transportation to the schools. This GoFundMe campaign will help us purchase and install the digital eLibrary system and server for our first recipient school, the Global Outreach Primary School in Sierra Leone.
