Diego's family needs help - fighting brain cancer

Donation protected
UPDATE  -  Many people are asking what has happened since Diego's Surgery.  We are just trying to navigate the best we can in  this new life for now along with the trauma the girls are dealing with. Im not going to lie and say everything is ok , its far from that ... Diego is not working he is home healing from his surgery  starting different  therapies  . While we research and weave through app after app looking at all options possible for Diego. We are of course trying to support his system nutritionally and wholistic wise also , so this includes a complete Organic diet along with supplementing his body where needed. Brain cancer is a cruel diagnosis with horrific statistics. Many have asked where he is at and sorry if it was never clear , Diego has been diagnosed with a grade 3 oli glioma. Some of which was removed via his latest surgery with some still remaining , marked to risky to remove. So while brain cancer does not have a cure the main focus is to stunt , stop or even shrink what is remaining. We will do anything and everything to fight this thing they call cancer. BUT where we are at is alot more then just starting treatment. Diego was sole earner which has left our family in a very vulnerable position. I myself have to stay home for the three girls and Diego as we continue with appointments  after apps, treatments and so on-along with the everyday life that is raising three young daughters. So I want to thank every single one of your so far for the love and donations and prayers we have felt it all. At the beginning I thought we have got this and this was amazing but as we dive deeper into treatments for Diego and the fact we moved the week of Diego surgery which has landed us with only a six month lease we now realize we are way in over our head, just one part of his treatment is coming in at $2000 a month this is one of a  few that are needed. My heart breaks when you know that the very thing that can help Diego comes down to if we can afford it. I try not yet to think or look to far into the future yet I know we are facing a massive hurdle come a few months time with still no income and a end of lease. So I now know we need to reach out to help raise as much as we can towards Diego's treatment costs. So I'm asking please, please share as much as you can and if donating is not something you can do please hold our family up in your thoughts, we feel it all. The support this far as been amazing and felt so deep. Please share-Diego's health is everything to us as a family .

update  from Hayley

What a crazy heart shattering , fast few weeks . With finding out diego had a brain tumour , which sent our minds spinning , to then straight in for emergency brain surgery,  two house moves all in the same week . I feel I have no words .... while we navigate the diagnosis of grade 2 & 3 brain cancer and the everyday life of three young daughters at home . Overwhelmed , numb  , hurt heartbroken and scared are just some of the words that come to mind .

For now while we attend many appointments , juggle the girls and come up with the best treatment plan for Diego I now realise we need anything and everything we can to kick this and all in all have quality time as a family.  A treatment plan needed as soon as possible , we are coming up against some massive figures for this fight.

I look at our girls 5, 3 & 1 and just break these sweet girls don’t deserve this , the bond they share with him is mind blowing he really is their everything without any exaggeration he is their world an amazing father and a loving husband . Time waits for no one - The number one thing I have learned so far is to appreciate every single day ... to everyday see the beauty . Moments before this happened we were a happy family of five about to move home for a larger space, so we can start our own little garden and spend more  quality family time outdoors to then be torn apart , shattered and scared. We are trying to keep the girls world as normal as possible , they are young but they are very affected , traumatised by his seizure they witnessed alone and having their lives flipped upside down .  We will work on this but right now they need their dad, they need long quality of life with him . ..Diego is our families world . Money comes and goes but money can not come to play in this . At the beginning I was naive to believe we would be ok . But with the bills rolling in , rent only paid up for six months, supplements and health food , the treatment plans rolling in - I feel I am forced and completely out of my comfort zone and welcome any and all forms of donation. I understand not everyone is in a position to donate if this is you please , please share and hold our family in your thoughts.

The love we have felt from the very beginning has been unbelievable we feel each and everyone of you .

If you are local Gold Coast ,  friends have put together a amazing fundraising event on Sun 28th April Please email - [email redacted]  for more info on this .

If this story is new for you . How this all rolled out will leave that below .

I can’t ask you enough to hold our family in your thoughts and  to help spread via sharing .

On Tuesday  5/03/2019  Diego Wernicke suffered a seizure outside his home, as he was about to take his daughters Luna 5 and Mili 3 to school and kindy, at the time of the seizure Diego was holding 1 year old Inca. thankfully Inca was uninjured. The girls screams of distress alerted the neighbours and they rang the ambulance and went out to comfort the children and assist Diego. Hayley Diego's wife arrived minutes later and the ambulance was behind her. Diego was discharged from hospital with no answers a few hours later. Hayley and Diego went to their own GP who ordered multiple scans and tests, as soon as the results were in Diego was immediately admitted to hospital. one of the scans showed a golf size tumor in the brain, they have told Hayley and Diego the tumor needs to be removed and then further testing on the tumor to see if its malignant or benign. Brain surgery itself is a huge ordeal this is completely devastating for their young family. At the minimum Diego will need 3-6 months off if not longer. As Diego is the sole bread winner this has left the family in a very vulnerable financial situation. To help Hayley and Diego through this time I am setting this page up in hope we can raise funds for the family, it will make it easier for them to concentrate on Diego's surgery and recovery allowing Hayley to care for Diego and their young daughters. In a period of the unknown for them, any donations given would be so appreciated and make a huge difference to how the family are able to survive and be together. If you can please donate, they are a very special family.  On top of this go fund me page a collection of Hayley & Diego’s friends Melissa Cimino , Vanessa Walker ,Louise Mackie are rallying friends & family to help out wherever they can .

UPDATE - Diego has had all his current tests looked at and assessed by the neuro team and they have picked up something else from the MRI next to the tumour another mass they didn’t see before , so they now are doing a biopsy to see what this new mass is .. this surgery for biopsies is scheduled for Friday . So prayers for good surgery and news is needed ✨
