Medical Bills

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page for Blair P...a friend, role model, and confidant for my son DJ Busch after moving away from home for the very first time.

About a month ago I got a call from DJ telling me that Blair had just been diagnosed with cancer.  Because Blair is a very private man DJ asked me to keep it to myself which I did for the time being.  Blair did not want anyone worrying needlessly and he did not want to draw attention to himself.

With that said, the situation was less than optimal as Blair was in between medical insurance policies and was not currently covered.  Because he is a proud man, he considered waiting for treatment until his new policy kicked in so that he did not burden anyone with his medical bills.  However, after speaking with the doctors and learning more Blair realized that he could not put off treatment without severe consequences and he has both a girlfriend and children that he loves and wants to be around for.  Hence, the treatment began...

Since that time the medical bills have grown and the treatment has intensified.  There were other medical issues that had to be resolved prior to treating the cancer and the first surgery was done approximately two weeks ago.

Unfortunately, this surgery did not end well, Blair was in a lot of extreme pain following the surgery and ended up back in the hospital.  I do not understand exactly what went wrong but what I do know is that when they went in to fix the problem his organs were so swollen that the doctors didn't even know what was what.  They were unable to complete the surgery and he is now in the hospital for at least two weeks at which point they hope that the swelling will go down and they will be able to go back in and treat the problem.

Because of these complications Blair is accumulating higher medical bills and is now out of work.  The treatment for the cancer has been delayed and they are now having to do more treatment for the current issue.  It feels like an uphill battle from both a medical and financial perspective and yet he is mainting a positive outlook and continues to laugh.

A little bit about Blair, the man I have come to know through my son DJ Busch...

He is a man that loves music and has a strong faith in God.  He is a man that is willing to put himself aside in order to welcome a young man into his home...a young man that has never lived away from home and is only 19 years old.  Blair has taken DJ under his wing, shown him around town, included him in dinners at home and out on the town, and considers DJ to be an adopted nephew that he "hopes is in his life for years to come".  Blair is not a big fan of dogs and yet when he saw that DJ was missing his dog, his best friend, Blair was willing to make an exception to his rule of not having the dog there and let DJ bring him home to Vegas a couple of weeks ago.

In such a short amount of time Blair has done so much for my son, for our family.  We have peace of mind knowing that DJ is well cared for and have such confidence in Blair because of all the wonderful things DJ shares with us each and every day.

While there is nothing that any of us can do to fix the cancer there is plenty we can do to help eliminate the fear of constantly mounting medical bills that feel impossible to pay.  It is both my hope and DJ's that our family and friends will donate anything they can to help Blair as he goes in for the fight of his life.

Remember, every donation counts, big or small...together we can make a huge impact!!!!

Thank you!!!
