Hello everyone, I am Natalia Rodriguez, a student living in Tallahassee, FL. My family has been through quite a bit throughout the last year, and especially during the last couple months. My mom separated from my stepdad and has had to become the main provider for my siblings and my grandparents and that has been incredibly straining to begin with. I don't know how she's managed honestly and I truly believe my mom is a superhuman and one of the strongest people I have ever known.
Recently though things have become rather heavy with finding out that she has continued to develop cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. She is at the highest grade (CIN 3) which means that the full thickness of the lining covering the cervix has abnormal cells. **Cancer Alert**
This has been devastating news for our entire family and we are asking for help to cover the cost of the surgery she underwent, which was extremely costly. My mom isn't able to afford insurance with all of the financial demands she has and we have tried everything to come up with the amount needed by selling things, taking on odd jobs, and working more in general.
The recovery needed for this surgery is serious, as she is having her uterus taken out which means she won't be able to move around much or do any heavy lifting, which puts her out of work for a while. We are so worried about how our family will be able to get by but this surgery is very crucial to my mother not developing cancer and being able to live her live and raise my siblings. Without my mother, we are lost. She is our strength and a source of love and wisdom for not just us but the community in Fort Walton Beach. She is loved by so many and her life is extremely valuable.
