Diana's Transplant

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, five months into my dad's cancer, who I was caring for at the time.  You can imagine my surprise. I had a double mastectomy with Diep Flap Reconstruction that went remarkably wrong.  I did 16 rounds of chemotherapy and now I have Lymphedema due to the removal of lymoh nodes that were filled with Cancer.  I found the innovator of a lymph node transplant in France who can transplant lymph nodes from another part of my body to under my arm, which  would replace the missing nodes.  Dr. Corinne Becker is a remarkable surgeon and is willing to do the operation in June. I've survived 14 surgeries and I'm hoping this one will be the last.  If you've had Cancer, or know anyone who has, then you understand the struggle to reclaim your life.  The horrible surprise at the end of the journey is that "normal" is quite elusive.  When one of your limbs is 4 times too big, it  greatly impacts the quality of your life.  From finding clothes to fit, to carrying anything over 5 lbs. becomes a challenge.  I have been an elementary school teacher for the past 18 years and it's a passion I don't want to give up. It's critical for me to be able to keep up with my students, move around freely, lift necessary items, and meet their needs without this obstacle in the way.  The funds raised here will go to pay the surgery and hospital bills at American Hospital of Paris.  I can't thank you enough for your donation.   It's a remarkable thing for you to donate to a complete stranger.
