Diana's recovery after Harvey

Donation protected
My sisters and I know that our family is not the only family that was affected by Harvey, nor the only one that needs help! However; I also know what my sister Diana and her family are going through after losing everything in a fire myself last year.  Luckily, she has started receiving love and support from her friends and family in the Houston area; giving them hope and the willpower to press onwards.

A little about our sisters’ story; she is a wonderful mother of two. Madly in love with her fiancé and has been by his side throughout his ongoing battles with cancer. This battle has taken a toll on them financially throughout the past several years. Diana is always the first to help anyone and is constantly volunteering for every cause she can because her heart is so full. And even while faced with the devastation that Harvey has brought, she still manages to make the occasionally joke and try’s to laugh through the pain.

Diana has lived in Texas her entire life and although she has dealt with flooding before, she has never dealt with flooding of this magnitude. It caught Houston and Diana’s family by surprise and when they attempted to leave, they could not make it out. Diana and her family called for evacuation/emergency help, but could not get through. They prayed for the rain to stop and the water recede. After many hours, there was a break in the rain, they took to their kayaks and paddled for a few hours to safety. They were then picked up on a nearby highway by her mom and are staying at her parents.

Each day they make trips to gut out their home. Our sister and her family have lost everything and the insurance company will only cover the structure of the home. But in the worst of times, the most amazing things occurs and people responded to our sister’s needs! Even while dealing with their own recovery.  Diana’s local friends and family have donated labor, some furniture, food, and most importantly SUPPORT AND LOVE! The generosity of Houstonians working tirelessly to aide people during such a difficult time is remarkable. However, there is still so much more they are in need of household, personal, furniture, food, linens, etc, so we decided to create this page for the many friends and family from other states that have asked if there is anything they could do to help our sister.  Again, anything you can contribute will help! Thank you!
