As many of you know, my mom had surgery for a large brain tumor on November 12th. She was in the hospital for a month, and in rehab since then. The recovery has been long and complicated, but she is showing her usual perseverance and good humor. I’ve always said that my mom - a two-time cancer survivor - is the strongest person I know, and the past 2 months have only confirmed that.
We don’t know if she’ll be able to go back to work or how much independent mobility she’ll be able to regain. She’ll be going home soon, and unfortunately insurance does not cover all of her needs - home health aides, extra therapies, medical supplies/adaptive equipment, and SO much more.
My mom - a social worker by profession and a helper by nature - has always given so much of herself to her family and friends. Any help you can offer is so much appreciated by all of us.
