Diabetes of America Service Dog

On November 8th, 2017, I was found unconscious in my bedroom and diagnosed with Addison’s Disease.  Addison’s Disease is caused by damage to your adrenal glands which results in not enough of the hormone cortisol that you need to stay alive.  Over the past two years, I have been going through trial and error trying to figure out the right dose of hydrocortisone. I recently moved to  Syracuse, New York to pursue my dream in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  Due to moving, I live by myself, and my endocrinologist has suggested getting a medical alert service dog.  I have been granted the opportunity to get a medical alert service dog through Diabetes of America.  I choose Diabetes of America due to the fact that Addison’s Disease has similar symptoms with your glucose going low when you are having an Addisonian Crisis.  This service dog is something that could help me immensely while living by myself helping me be my best self.
