Diabetes Emergency App

Well, it has finally happened…... Zalia’s dream of using technology to help others living with diabetes has become a reality. The Diabetes Emergency App is now released. Who would have thought a 10-year-old kid could dream up such a great idea? And who would have been willing to back them on it? Well, the answer to that is you did, and for that we sincerely thank you. Nearly 5 years later after a bit of research, lots of fundraising thanks to lots of very generous big-hearted people, numerous questions, developer discussions, designing and testing, the @DiabetesEmergencyApp has finally come to life and is available on the App Store and soon on Google Play Store. We will post on FaceBook photos of Zalia including her initial blueprint poster from when she was 10 yrs old, her sister Tilly and all three of us (Renae stayed behind the camera).

Hello, my name is Zalia. I am 12 years old and suffering from Type 1 Diabetes.

I would like to raise money to develop an App to help others with Type 1 Diabetes.

My goal is to raise $20,000.

The app will be designed to save the life of somebodies son or daughter who may be suffering Type 1 Diabetes.

So please help me make this app so people can save lives of a Type 1 Diabetic child/adult. Thanks.

Hi, I’m Zalia’s dad, Michael.

Zalia came to me with her idea after seeing another app designed to help people. She is so excited and passionate about helping others suffering T1D by developing the app. With that, I contacted an app developer to discuss the idea and get an estimate of what it will cost to develop and maintain the app.

What would you do if you came across someone lying on the ground lifeless and barely breathing? You don’t know what is wrong and do not have the medical training to know how to save their life. The app will be designed to provide simple instructions to anybody passing by.

Any money raised that does not go towards developing the app, will be donated towards finding a cure for T1D.
