Help Jimmy walk again!

Meet Jimmy Poleto.  He is 29, an Army veteran, a husband, a son, a brother and a friend to many.  He had a good job, a beautiful wife, Kathryn, and a new house.  Everybody loved "Mr Personality" who would do anything to help others.  His passions were his motorcycles and MMA fighting.  On June 30, 2012, he was riding home on his motorcycle and was hit head on by a drunk driver.  Although he had his helmet on and was doing everything right, the force of the impact knocked his helmet off.  He suffered a catastrophic brain injury, a torn liver, bruised lungs, a shattered leg and pelvis, and 2 broken hands. He was given a 2% chance of living and no chance of a meaningful recovery. Jimmy was in a coma for 3 months and in the hospital for 7 months.  His devoted wife and family never left his side and never gave up hope.

Jimmy beat the odds! His recovery so far is truly a miracle, but he still has a long way to go.  His physical strength from being a life-long athelete helped him overcome the physical injuries.  The problems from the severe brain injury, however, are harder to overcome.  He has made a remarkable cognitive recovery but he has spent the last 2 years in daily, painful therapy and is still unable to walk independently or speak clearly.

Jimmy's medical care has left him and Kathryn with thousands of dollars in medical bills. He is unable to work, and Kathryn lost her job because she cares for him full time.  In December, he will also lose his medical insurance.  No young couple should have to endure this struggle, and the love Jimmy and Kathryn share is like no other.

Jimmy has fought so hard to get back to life.  He wants to be independent, he wants to work again to support his wife, and start a family.  He needs your help to do that. A specialized, intensive physical therapy program can help Jimmy but it is expensive  - $15, 000, and not covered by insurance.  An intensive speech therapy to help him to talk again is $10,000.  Jimmy has a great outlook, and a positive attitude and is determined to recover, but he needs the right therapy to get there.
