We are reaching out to you during a time of urgent need. Hukena's eldest uncle, Sales Yawanawa, had an accident yesterday, on Sunday, morning when his motorcycle fell on him as he was leaving home. He was seriously injured, and the most concerning issue is a spinal fracture, which puts him at risk of becoming paraplegic. Currently, he is in the hospital of the small town of Tarauacá, but he needs to be transferred to a better-equipped hospital in the capital city, Rio Branco, to receive appropriate treatment.

He requires immediate surgery and transportation to the nearest hospital, but the costs involved are overwhelming for the family.

Hukena is a cherished friend, mentor, and one of the founders of Shavora she has always been there for others, offering support, kindness and healing whenever it was needed. Now she needs our help.

After the accident, her uncle was unable to receive immediate medical attention due to a lack of resources. His injuries require swift surgical intervention to prevent further complications. This week, he underwent several surgical procedures, and while his condition is already more stable, his recovery is expected to take some time. Given the circumstances, the family had to temporarily rent a house in the city of Cruzeiro do Sul and purchase a special bed to properly care for his spine.

Hukena is the main relative supporting him sending financial aid, but as this situation won’t be resolved in a short time, the help of friends is very welcome to support her family in taking care of him.
