Michael Broughton

As some of you know, Michael Broughton, was diagnosed on May 2, 2022 with high grade metastatic neuroendocrine small cell cancer at just 23 years old (a very rare type of cancer for his age). His medically team at both St. Peters and Dana-Farber are working diligently to treat his cancer as aggressively as possible. Michael has started aggressive chemotherapy this past week at St. Peters hospital and will be continuing treatment both at St. Peters hospital in Albany and at Dana-Farber in Boston.  As some of you know Michaels mother Jodie has worked as a registered nurse for St Peters at Schuyler Ridge for the past 28 years.  Michael was currently working for his dad’s small pool building business and is currently unable to work at this time. As you can imagine this family is still trying to process this devastating diagnosis and are looking into many different treatment options including chemotherapy, clinical trials and holistic measures. Michael is a hardworking blue collar young man, never taking life for granted. Always grateful for all he has and where he has been, very grateful for his family. Michael is an “old soul”, believes you work hard for what you want in this life. Michael is outgoing, always has goals set that keeps him driven and motivated. Michael enjoys the outdoors, snowboarding, boating, fishing, hiking, and he wants to visit every national park in the US. His future hope is to have a family and wants to have free roam animals on acres of green earth, serenity all around living a simple life. Michael has played slow pitch softball every season for the past 6 years with a great group of guys “STOOGES”.  Michael will fight with everything he has to beat this.
