On September 2nd, I took Simba to see the cardiologist & we did not receive any good news. Simba was born with a heart defect & has multiple problems with his heart, one in which caused him to accumulate a lot of fluid in his lungs which has affected his breathing. He was prescribed medication to help him but he will need surgery.
We returned to see a different cardiologist on September 19th & once again, we didn't receive any good news. Looks like Simba wasn't getting any better. They performed an echo diagram & saw that he still had a lot of fluid around his lungs. They took out as much fluid as they could & recommended to increase his medication. We discussed the procedure "ballon valvuloplasty" which will help Simba prolong his life. Unfortunately neither of the cardiologist that we saw have ever performed this surgery. However, they do know of someone who has. The cardiologist told me this is a 50/50 because Simba's case is so rare.
On September 20th, I received a call from the cardiologist, She informed us that she spoke to the cardiologist that has performed the ballon valvuloplasty procedure & went over Simba's medical history with him. He is well aware of Simba's diagnosis & complications, he mentioned that his previous procedure turned out great with zero complications & also, the pet was able to stop taking medications for his heart due to he no longer had CHF (congestive heart failure). He gave us a 80/20 chance of the surgery.
For those who know me, you know how much I love and adore my dogs. It hurts me so much to see Simba like this & I just want him to get better, but I need your help. Simba’s vet bills have been piling up & I won’t be able to pay for his surgery alone. They have informed me the surgery will cost around $6500. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
