Mount Vernon Rosenwald School Restoration

Tax deductible
Hello! Thanks for taking a look at our school and for considering a donation!

The Mount Vernon Rosenwald School Building is a 501(c)(3) created to preserve and restore our historic two-teacher school built in 1925 for African American children in Iron Station, North Carolina. We want to restore the school, open it to the community, and tell the important story of the families who came together to build the school and a better future for their children.

Donated funds will go a long way towards bringing the school back to its 1920s appearance. Upcoming projects include fixing a roof leaf, removing vinyl siding, repairing and painting the original wood siding, fixing the subfloor and foundation, and restoring the original tongue and groove walls, floors, and ceilings.

We have a lot of work to do, but we are optimistic about the future for this small school and hope you will consider donating!

Sincerely,

The Mount Vernon Rosenwald School Board
